3. Left 4 Dead 2
The left 4 dead 2 trailer perfectly captures the feeling of actually playing the game. It introduces the characters present in the game and gives you a small insight into what they are like. It has a script partially take from what characters actually say in-game. It keeps a light-heart whilst also promoting an incredibly dark subject of 4 people stranded in southern America during an apocalypse.

2. Star Wars: The Old Republic
It's hard for me to pinpoint exactly why the Old Republic trailer is so fantastic. It recreates some of the greatest battle scenes from the films, combining a great script and voice over with incredible special effects. It's fantastically directed and, whilst probably not representative of the actual game play, succeeds in making me want to play the game.

1. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
Perhaps it's the stunning, in game representitive graphics. Perhaps it's the beautifully directed action scene, which could be taken straight from one of the best action films ever made. Perhaps it's the clever use of cinematic and realistic cameras. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but it indisputably makes it the best trailer of 2009.
